Mr Site News

Welcome to the MrSite News Section! Here we will be keeping you posted with what's new with MrSite including updates to their sevices as well as other points of interests.

Happy Solstice everyone!

Heard some news from MrSite. They have closed their forum since the method of moderation was impractical. They are currently going through talks to decide whether to bring the forum back or not though you may have noticed they have removed the "Chat" button in the control panel that linked to the forum so for the time being it is not looking good for the once vibrant MrSite community.

Though there is some good news for MrSite's affiliates! They have raised the commission from 1 pound per sale to 5 pounds! For those of you who do not use the MrSite banner on your site, you can still take advantage of this offer by refering a friend to www.mrsite.co.uk/friends and get them to type your website in the box before they purchase. Not only will you "earn a fiver" but your friend will get 5 pounds off the MrSite package as well!

So what are you waiting for? "Spread the Love" ^_^

Thank you for all your emails, though I'm afraid I don't have any more information about the Official Forum at this time.

The forum's homepage now says it is "offline for maintenance" after just a couple of days of it going live. It is possible that the new system of moderation they had applied has proven to be impractical due to the amount of posts being made.

I am hoping MrSite will help shed some light on this.

I will keep you posted if I hear more!

It looks like MrSite Pro is now live and can be purchased from the MrSite Control Panel. They have given a bit more information on the sign up page though, as somebody else mentioned, it looks like a joke... all the extras they are offering are free online tools (if you search for them).

The only advantage of Mrsite Pro that I can see is that all these free tools are in one place. I don't know how they can justify the price. I have sent them a few emails requesting more information though it has now been a month so I assume they refuse to comment.

It also appears that they have created an Official MrSite directory though I can't see any way to submit your site unless you sign up to MrSite Pro.

http://www.mymrsite.com/

I don't understand why they did this either (unless they plan to include every site hosted with them).

These are the tools they are offering with MrSite Pro:

Make comprehensive meta tags for your website, so that the search engines know exactly what you're about.

This really should be a standard feature. In case you are interested you already have the important meta tags on your site with the standard MrSite Package.

There are hundreds of websites offering similar tools for free. Here are just a few though if you do a search you wil find many more.

http://www.submitexpress.com/metatags.html

http://vancouver-webpages.com/META/mk-metas.html

http://www.anybrowser.com/MetaTagGenerator.html

Mr Site will automatically rewrite your webpages to make them super Google friendly.

Does this mean MrSite admit that their standard templates are not Google Friendly unless you sign up to MrSite Pro? Why not?

Mr Site's Google Sitemap creator will automatically make a Google Sitemap for your website, again improving your chances of getting top Google rankings.

This is yet another free tool similar to the one I use at

http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/

PayPal Express Checkout

I'm still researching this one... I've sent an email to Paypal asking them what MrSite is offering that we can't do through our Paypal Account since MrSite refuse to comment. It is strange that MrSite suggest signing up to Paypal Pro with this feature though that would cost another £20 per month on top of the MrSite Pro package racking up the grand total to £290 per year!

Stationery Creation Tool

Ever heard of VistaPrint... They offer this online service for free.

Maintanance to the servers has been completed! There should be no more problems with people accessing their sites now.

And if you look in the "Extras" section of your Mr Site members area you will see that the long awaited Search Engine Optimisation feature might soon be active!

It looks like they are bringing in a new package called "Mr Site Pro" which will apparently give you more power over the design of your site (perhaps more advaced features) and will include the Search Optimisation feature. The upgrade will cost £54.95 per year (£4.57 per month) though this is just the introductory price. Normally it would cost £69.95 per year (£5.83 per month). You will pay on a pro rata basis (that is to say, you'll pay up to the time when your account is due for renewal.

In the past they have also mentioned the possiblity of being able to turn off the Mr Site Footer. Will this be available with Mr Site Pro? Who knows?! We'll just have to wait and see!

Hi,
Thanks for your mail.
Maintanance work is done. You can access your sites now. Sorry, we do not have a definite date for when the new forum will be up and running. Guys are still working on it here.
Please let us know if you require any further assistance.
Best,
Mt Site Team

17th April 2007

Over the last couple of days several MrSiters have had problems accessing their website either as an error message appearing on their site or in some cases their site disappearing all together.

Mr Site are aware of the problem. They are currently adding more servers to their system and this has caused a few temporary glitches. I am waiting to hear how long this maintanance will take.

And they have also suggested that the official forum may be back online soon! Again I am waiting to hear when this will be... Watch this space!

Hi there
We were adding additional servers to our arsenal last night, which is why some people may have experienced temporary unforseen problems. Apologies for the inconvenience. We are very excited about the improvements we are making to Mr Site which we hope will include 24 hour phone support and a new improved forum.

13th April 2007 (Friday the 13th! arg!)

AboutMrSite.com is now officially LIVE! I would like to thank everybody who has contributed and all those who have helped in its development. I salute you!

The directory is now open to link exchange! If you're thinking of buying online don't forget your fellow MrSiters! As well as being listed in the thumbnail directory (That's right! Your listing includes a thumbnail of your homepage!) you will be elligible to win Website of the Month and have your site featured on the homepage. This month we salute Shagrat's Website Tips!

The Review Section (a bit sparse at the moment) is also open to submissions! Submitted reviews need to be at least 75 words long so as to encourage people to elaborate instead of simply saying "It's Great!". lol. You can also include a link to your website in the signature though if you wish to stay anonymous then that's fine as well. A reciprocal link is not required.

Plus any suggestions for the FAQ and Tips and Tricks sections are also very welcome! Once again you can include your link in the signature. A reciprocal link is not required.

I hope this site helps you in the development of your own website and may it grow to help future MrSiters.

Well it looks like they have no plans to reopen the forum anytime soon... There were too many "negative comments" posted by a nameless minority on the forum and so Mr Site have had to rethink the whole thing. Though I'm sure all are looking forward to the new features!

We do not have a definite date for when the new forum will be up and running, nor have we decided on its format. We are focusing on bringing in new Mr Site features and increasing our support right now, so the forum is not the priority. I am sure you are aware that the forum was misused by a minority of people, and because of this we have unfortunately had to rethink the whole thing. It is such a shame as it was a fantastic resource for many people. The forum will be back at some stage, but I cannot confirm when.
All the best

Fortunatly there is still the "unofficial" forum that we can all use! Thanks to Allan for setting this up!

No news to report yet! Just the official forum is currently locked as they do a "redesign". Here is their statement.

Dear All
We are changing the way that the forum works. We want our forum to be a supportive safe place for people to chat and pick up Mr Site tips and tricks. Unfortunately we have noticed that it is sometimes being used negatively by a small minority. Because of this we have decided to introduce changes. Watch this space for more info….
